The last Sunday of every April in Half Moon Bay is the Pacific Coast Dream Machines. If it has an engine, it’s probably there. Everything from jet powered bicycles and monster trucks to antique farm equipment and even a Sheridan tank is there. They even had unicycle drag races! Hundreds of cars and trucks came for Dream Machines 2010 and over 20,000 people!
All proceeds go to the Coastside Adult Day Health Center, and it’s all run by volunteers like my dad and I! The Coastside Adult Day Health Center is a great place. It’s where adults and senior citizens can be left and will be well taken care of during the day. My grandpa was even there for a while.
But to me, the coolest part was the airplanes. There were not one but two Reno Air Racers there: Dan Martin with Ridge Runner III and Tiger Destefani with Strega. It was really cool! I got to interview Tiger Destefani, Steve Hinton J.R., and crew chief L.D. Hughes!
I also got to see all my other friends, like Eddie Andreini Sr. & Jr.; George Hulett, pilot of the B-25 Heavenly Body; Kent Carlomagno, owner of the Yak-11 Blyak; Dan Martin, owner & pilot of the awesome P-51 Ridge Runner III; Bill and Andy, the Super Tug guys; Jason Somes, the CAF who brought up a Bearcat; and many more good friends.
The weather was fabulous. Lots of people showed up, over 20,000! There were lots of cool things to do there for everyone, especially family related activities. There was a really long line to tour Heavenly Body, but it was worth it.
After everyone left, the coolest thing happened to me! I got to ride on a Sheridan tank, the only one that can drive in existence! It was really cool, and after I got to climb inside the tank! How cool is that?! I also got to set up cones and rope on Saturday, and it was really fun!
Well, be sure to be there for Dream Machines 2011! It will be way cool, so bring your family! It’ll keep you entertained for you’re entire Sunday! Be there!
